Roland Cooper State Park is privledged to be the Check Station/Weigh In Station for the past four West Central Alabama Gator Hunts. These hunts include Wilcox and Dallas Counties, where 50 people draw tags to be eligible to hunt alligators. While there have been numerous huge gators taken from the waters (Alabama River) outside our park, we are also proud to say that State and World Record gators have been taken.

  • 2011 - Keith Fancher Gator - 832 lbs. 14.2 Ft. in long (State Record)
  • 2014 - Mandy Stokes Gator - 1011.5 lbs. 15 Ft. long (New State and World Record)

The gator hunts are held each year in August for two weekends. You can find out more information at on how to participate.
